A mob of 20 kids beat a man brain
dead with bats, boards, shovels and rocks after he punched one of them in the mouth for throwing an egg at him Sunday night, police in Milwaukee said.
Three suspects, ages 10, 13 and 14, were in custody Monday, Milwaukee police said. The victim, 36-year-old Charlie Young Jr., remained on life support.
The gang chased Young onto the porch of a house on the city's north side and pummeled him, leaving blood splattered from floor to ceiling.
Young managed to briefly escape into the house, but the mob dragged him back outside and beat him.
The captured kids could be charged as soon as Tuesday. Police continued to search Monday for as many as 18 other youths involved in the beating.
Police say the attack happened around 10:30 Sunday night after Young chased a small group of boys who threw an egg at him, the AP reported. He then caught a 14-year-old boy and punched him in the mouth, knocking out a tooth.
The juveniles quickly assembled a larger group of 18 or 20 kids, ages 10 to 18 and chased Young to the porch, where they beat him bloody.
