Election fever intensifies as NYTCBSNEWS is set to release its latest poll which shows a majority of Americans say that the nation's economy is in its worst shape in nearly a decade.

Newsroom sources tell DRUDGE that editors have set the poll for Page One leads in Monday runs, designed for maximum impact.
The paper is basing its lead on the poll of just 668 adults nationwide, sources said late Sunday afternoon.
"President Bush and congressional leaders are spending too much time talking about Iraq, while neglecting problems at home," a majority believe, according to the media giants.
The poll found signs of economic distress that cut across party and geographic lines. Nearly half of all Americans are worried that they or someone in their household will be out of a job within a year.
