Leaflets put reward price on U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan
FRI Apr 5 2002 13:26:12 ET

Washington (dpa) - Leaflets that place a bounty of up to 100,000 dollars for U.S. troops in Afghanistan reflect the continuing danger of deployment in that Central Asian country, general Tommy Franks said on Friday.

;Afghanistan is and remains a very dangerous place for us to be operating,'' Tommy told reporters. He said troops were constantly aware of the danger.

It was not known who was responsible for distributing the leaflets around Afghanistan, or who would pay the reward. The leaflets offered 50,000 dollars for a dead U.S. soldier and 100,000 dollars for one captured live.
