XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUNDAY SEPT 01, 2002 20:37:49 ET XXXXX NEW LORD OF THE RINGS 'LEAKS' ON INTERNET -- 4 MONTHS BEFORE RELEASE The new fuss film LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS has been leaked on to the Internet, it was claimed on Sunday -- more than 4 months before its release. In a stunning slap at Hollywood and its ongoing copyright battle with digital swappers, Internet users boldly began trading copies of the latest RINGS on Sunday. But one AOLTIMEWARNER executive expressed serious doubt that a file is in play. "I have serious question about this, I am not sure we even have a finished product yet!" said the executive from New York. "I don't know what this is, but if it is the movie, or any portion of the movie, we will impose strict criminal penalties against anyone and everyone that downloads it!" While the movie's distributor has no legitimate report of a leak, file traders were convinced they had the real movie, which is set for release in December. Some prereleases that have hit the net recently include the first 3 episodes of the new SOPRANOS season and DVD rips of STAR WARS Episode 2 and SPIDERMAN.
