�NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH TOM BROKAW� ON THE NIGHT OF SADDAM HUSSEIN�S CAPTURE TOPS ABC BY A WHOPPING 32% OR 2,592,000 MORE TOTAL VIEWERS

ALSO WINS ALL FIVE NIGHTS DURING THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 8 - 12, 2003 COMPARED TO THE SAME WEEK A YEAR AGO, �NIGHTLY NEWS� IS THE ONLY NEWSCAST TO GROW ITS AUDIENCE

According to Nielsen Media Research data, more Americans turned to �NBC Nightly News� to get the latest news and information about the capture of Saddam Hussein than watched ABC or CBS news. On Sunday, December 14, the Brokaw-anchored newscast attracted 10.798 million viewers (7.0/12 in homes and a 3.3 rating among adults 25-54), a whopping 32% advantage over ABC �World News Tonight�s� 8.206 million (5.4/9 in homes and a 2.3 rating in adults 25-54); while CBS� �Evening News� averaged 5.166 million viewers (3.5/6 in homes and a 1.6 rating among adults 25-54).

For the week of December 8 - 12, 2003, �NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw� was also the No. 1 network evening newscast, winning all five nights. For the week, �Nightly News� averaged 11.228 million viewers, 8% (+870,000) more viewers than ABC �World News Tonight�s � 10.358 million, and a staggering 41% (+3,247,000) viewer advantage over CBS �Evening News�� 7.981 million. Compared to the same week a year ago, the NBC broadcast is the only program to grow its audience, increasing 3% while ABC is down 2% and CBS is off 5%. �Nightly News� has now placed first in total viewers for 40 of the last 42 weeks.

In homes, �Nightly News� was also top-rated, posting a 7.7 rating and a 14 share. ABC followed with a 7.3/14 and CBS trailed with a 5.8/11.

In the key demographic adults 25-54, �Nightly News� placed first with a 3.0 rating. ABC tied with NBC and CBS had a 2.2 rating. �Nightly News� has now placed first among adults 25-54 for 110 of the last 115 weeks (seven ties).

Season-to-date (9/22/03-12/14/03), �Nightly News�� is outperforming ABC and CBS by wider margins compared to last season. This season, �Nightly News� now has a an 8% (+645,000) total viewer advantage over ABC, and a 31% lead (+2,456,000) over CBS; while last season-to-date, the NBC newscast had only +425,000 viewer lead over ABC and a +2,031,000 advantage over CBS.
