 Support The DrudgeReport; Visit Our Advertisers  Four arrested over beheading Tue May 18 2004 11:13:38 ET BAGHDAD, May 18 (AFP) - Four people have been arrested over the beheading of US businessman Nicholas Berg, an Iraqi source said Tuesday. A senior Iraqi source said four people were in custody over Berg's murder. Berg's execution was shown earlier this month on an Al-Qaeda linked website. Asked if more than one person had been arrested in connection with the killing, the source told AFP: "Yes, four people". "We have made good progress," the source added, referring to the investigation, but declined to give any further details on the identity of the four people held in detention. It was understood that none of the four included Al-Qaeda linked Jordanian extremist Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, who US authorities believe carried out the killing of the 26-year-old along with other atrocities in Iraq. The gruesome video of Berg's decapitation showed him with five masked gunmen, but Iraqi sources declined to say whether any of the four suspects in custody are depicted in the images. Developing... |
