Couric may soon become not only the top female cash-earners in the history of the news business, but she would top all male performers! With perks, bumps, clauses and an expansion of duties, Couric will become the highest paid news personality in the history of the medium, if she opts to stay at GE's peacock. "NBC executives know she will be snapped up by CBS in the blink of an eye if they do not keep her happy," one top source said in New York. "The bidding is going to rewrite the history books, easily outpacing Barbara Walters, King and the others." Couric's current contract pops in May, but an aggressive move is on behind-the-scenes to get the house in order for future years. Pushing Couric into Oprah, Rosie cash levels would be a new contract option which creates an NBC-financed production company jointly owned by Couric.
