AUDIO: CBS BOSSES THANK HOWARD STERN FOR 'RECORD REVENUE'; MOONVES SAYS 'SIRIUS' IS GOOD MOVE
Mon Mar 06 2005 01:18:39 ET
Stunning evidence has surfaced in the CBS legal fight with Howard Stern.
VIACOMCBS Chair Les Moonves, appearing on one of Stern's final CBS shows, thanked the shock jock for the record advertising revenue the network sold.
Moonves admits he bought SIRIUS, and applauds Stern's move, wishing him luck.
"We are rooting for you," Moonves says on the tape. "We really are."
Moonves told Stern: "I totally understand, if they would have given me that kind of money, I would have left too."
CBS sued Howard Stern last week, claiming Stern breached his contract with them when he moved SIRIUS.
The lawsuit claims Stern improperly used CBS radio's air time to promote his new show with SIRIUS, which began earlier this year. CBS also claims Stern discussed his plans with SIRIUS without disclosing them to CBS as required under his contract.
