Barack Obama in the final hours before New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation presidential primary. Williams spent much of the day traveling with the candidate as he crisscrossed the Granite State in a last minute bid for support. Williams: "How does this [showing Sen. Obama the NEWSWEEK cover] feel of all of the honors that have come your way? All the publicity?" Obama: "Well, I have not seen this, so... it's quite something." Williams: "Who does it make you think of? Is there a loved one?" Obama: "Well, you know, it makes me think of my mom and the fact that she's not around to see it. I think she would have been proud and you know, she would have cried and that's how she used to deal with stuff like this. Her chin used to tremble and she would get all weepy.
