XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT BREAK 5/31/97 14:08:47 PDT

 HUBBELL RECORDS SEIZED?

There are new reports that Whitewater prosecutor Kenneth Starr has seized
the records of a Los Angeles-area broker involving a $3,500,000 account
supposedly belonging to Webster Hubbell. Speculation first raised in this
space [DRUDGE REPORT 4/22/97], had Hubbell's suspicious earnings far
exceeding the press accounts of $700,000. One theory has Starr stumbling
upon the account from taped phone talk caught on tape during Hubbell's time
 in prison...

HOLLYWOOD -- UNIVERSAL and director Spielberg look to be on track to bag
another $35 million at this weekend's boxoffice. This summer, a crowded
field. UNIVERSAL executives hoped to get the majority of LOST WORLD
receipts in before the onslaught. Next Friday sees DISNEY'S CON AIR
hitting the malls, overheated teens already anticipating. The following
weekend, June 6th, is Bullock. SPEED 2 has a publicity push not seen since
VOLCANO [some in fact suspect that every billboard that lined the streets
pushing VOLCANO -- estimated in the thousands, thought to be an industry
record -- has quickly been peeled and pasted with SPEED. On the crowded
field, one boulevard stroller remarks, "I can only go to one a
weekend...I'm gonna miss some of these 'blockbusters', looks like I'll be
catching them at BLOCKBUSTER." It's competitive. There's only a limited
pool of potential ticket buyers, leading to industry speculation that LOST
WORLD will not, repeat will not, march to any further records. Novelty of
 dinosaur fading.

FOOTNOTE: You did not buy a ticket to PARAMOUNT'S 'TIL THERE WAS YOU even
though YOU have been seeing the trailers in heavy rotation for nearly a
year. The film starring Sarah Jessica Parker only averaged a damning $558
per screen on its opening night. PARAMOUNT'S lean cuisine summer
continues. With TITANIC now scheduled for Santa, chief Sherry Lansing's
only hope for summer tan comes in the form of the Travolta/Cage FACE/OFF
[June 27th]. She may need to buy some cream...

An overriding reason why Rep. Susan Molinari of New York is leaving
congress for CBS-TV'S new Saturday morning talk program might be because
her husband, Rep. Bill Paxon, may be in line as successor to Speaker Newt
Gingrich. Robert Novak in his syndicated column on Sunday has GOP insiders
considering it unseemly for Molinari to serve in the House with her husband
as speaker. Novak writes: "New House rules limit Gingrich to four terms
as speaker [concluding in 2002], but his tenure could end before that...
When Gingrich was in danger of losing the speakership earlier this year,
Paxon emerged as a strong prospect to replace him"...
